Professor of Commercial and Maritime Law at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and at Universidade Fluminense Law School (retired). Former Judge of the Brazilian Maritime Tribunal. Founding Member and ex-President of Associação Brasileira de Direito Marítimo (Brazilian Maritime Law Association). Founding member and Vice-President for Brazil (ad honorem) of Instituto Ibero-Americano de Direito Marítimo (Ibero-American Institute of Maritime Law). Titulary Member of the Comité Maritime International (CMI). Has served as a member of the Brazilian Diplomatic Commission in meetings of IMO Legal Committee, in London and Geneva, and of the Paraguay-Paraná River International Commission in São Paulo and Asuncion. Lecturer on International Trade, Maritime, Ports, and Environmental Law. Founder in 1964 and Senior Partner of the Law Office Pedro Calmon Filho & Associados. Attended at US Federal Court, South District of New York, in 2002, and at the High Court of Justice, London, in 2003, acting as expert on Brazilian Law. Lecturer in several courses and universities. Member of Board of Maritime Law and Port of Brazilian Bar Association OAB/RJ. Ranked as reference and top tier in the area of Who’s Who Legal, Chamber and Partners, Best Lawyers and Legal 500.
